I'm an awful fan because I feel I should know this, but could you explain the whole lawsuit with DD thing? Thanks!

Then: In August 1999 (in between seasons 6 and 7), David filed suit against FOX because of a syndication deal which he thought had cheated him out of millions in profit participation (they sold syndication rights at a cheap price to their own affiliate, FX). Although this shouldn’t have had anything to do directly with Chris, it basically came out that Chris had known about the deal and had been paid by FOX to keep it quiet. David, at least, took it very personally and it caused a rift in their friendship for a while, although the suit was settled in David’s favor in 2001 and by 2002 they seemed to be getting along again. I have quotes about how they had to “work” on fixing their friendship — I’ll find and post.
